5.4/10

Staying at Hotel Hulku was a mixed experience for me. The location is great—just a short walk from two ADO bus stations, and I loved the lush greenery around the hotel. However, the breakfast was disappointing, and the lack of room phones for emergencies was concerning. The staff's demeanor felt somewhat uptight, which added to my discomfort during my stay.

Rooms
5.0
I found the rooms to be kept very clean, but they were quite small, and there were no phones in the room for emergencies.
Service
5.0
Most of the staff seemed rude and grumpy. I didn't feel welcomed. The only helpful person was someone who assisted with tours, but that was a small consolation.
Location
8.0
The location is fantastic, just a 5-minute walk to two ADO bus stations in a safe area, which made getting around convenient.
Dining
5.0
Breakfast was basic—just toast, butter, granola, and fruit, without any options for eggs unless I paid extra. This was a letdown, given the expectations.
Facilities
5.0
The pool was very small and the common areas had some restrictions. The housekeeping wasn't very attentive either.

7.4/10

My stay at Hotel Hulku was a mixed experience. While the hotel was very clean and had a beautiful environment with tropical plants, I found the customer service lacking. The breakfast options were minimal, and I experienced some discomfort with the staff's attitude. Overall, the hotel had potential, but it missed the mark in several areas. 🌴😕

Rooms
6.0
The bathroom in my room was very small, and I felt it could use more space. Overall, the room was comfortable but had some drawbacks, like the persistent wet floor issue from condensation.
Service
5.0
The service was hit or miss. While Mr. Omar was helpful, the front desk manager was not accommodating when I needed assistance. I also didn’t appreciate the rigid atmosphere.
Location
8.0
The hotel's location is excellent, just a short walk to the city center and bars, making it easy to explore Playa del Carmen. I felt safe walking around, which was a plus.
Dining
5.0
Breakfast didn’t meet my expectations—it was just toast, granola, and fruit, and the coffee wasn't great. The insistence on restrictions was frustrating, especially when I needed to take a breakfast to-go for an early excursion.
Facilities
6.0
The hotel was kept very clean, and I appreciated the free bicycles offered for a couple of hours. However, the pool was very small and didn’t provide a relaxing atmosphere.

6.4/10

My stay at Hotel Hulku was quite disappointing overall. Although the grounds were well-kept and created a pleasant atmosphere, the service and accommodations left much to be desired. The breakfast options were very limited and didn’t match the appealing pictures I had seen. Additionally, the noise from nearby venues made it difficult to sleep. Despite these drawbacks, the staff member who assisted with tours was genuinely helpful.

Rooms
5.0
The room I had was small with a kitchenette, but the bathroom was even smaller. Cleanliness was maintained, yet the lack of phones in the room for emergencies was concerning.
Service
5.0
Most staff seemed unfriendly and rigid, only one employee offered helpful advice regarding local tours. The overall demeanor was quite unwelcoming, which made my experience uncomfortable.
Location
6.0
The hotel's location was decent, just a couple of blocks away from busy 5th Avenue, which is great for exploring. However, the surrounding noise from local venues was disruptive at night.
Dining
5.0
Breakfast was disappointing with limited choices—just toast, butter, granola, and fruit. Furthermore, the coffee wasn’t good, and I had to pay extra for an espresso.
Facilities
5.0
While the hotel was clean with a nice pool area, the facilities were lacking in terms of amenities, especially compared to the number of rooms available.

My stay at Hotel Hulku was a bit of a mixed bag. The ambiance was wonderful, filled with lush greenery, but the service left much to be desired. The breakfast was quite basic, and I found the pool area to be smaller than expected. Overall, it was a nice spot for a getaway, but the customer service issues were disappointing.

Rooms
7.0
The standard king room was lovely and had a kitchenette with a fridge. but it was more of a sink and fridge setup, not ideal for cooking. The room provided enough storage, though the bathroom could have been better maintained.
Service
5.0
While I had a pleasant check-in experience, some staff were indifferent and there seemed to be a lack of concern when issues arose. I appreciated Iran's help with tours, but overall, the service felt unwelcoming and restrictive.
Location

The hotel is perfectly situated. close to the beach and just a short walk from bars and restaurants. The surrounding area felt safe, and there’s a lovely Tiki bar right across the road offering great tacos.
Dining
6.0
Breakfast options were quite simple—just toast, fruit, and granola. it was adequate, but I would have liked more variety. I didn’t try other meals, but I did see some juicy burgers on the menu.
Facilities
5.0
The facilities were generally nice, with beautiful plants surrounding the area. but the pool was quite cold at times, and I didn’t feel safe on the slippery floors. There were also no elevators, which made it hard with luggage.

6.4/10

I had a mixed experience at Hotel Hulku. The location was awesome—close to restaurants and the beach—but I was disappointed with the breakfast and some of the amenities. While the staff was pleasant and the grounds were nice, the limited breakfast options and some issues with room cleanliness and design really held back my stay.

Rooms
5.0
My room had a kitchenette, but it was pretty dark and the bathroom design was flawed, leading to water everywhere after a shower. The bedding had some dark spots that made it less than comfortable.
Service
6.0
While the reception staff was friendly, the service during breakfast was slow and frustrating. I often got my order wrong, and the breakfast lady didn't speak much English, which made things more complicated.
Location
9.0
The hotel was in a prime spot, just a short walk from the beach and many restaurants. It's great for those who want to be close to the action without too much noise at night.
Dining
5.0
Breakfast options were super limited, just toast or granola. I expected more variety, and the taste didn't really wow me. I ended up skipping it after the first morning.
Facilities
5.0
They had a nice pool and gardens, but it felt a bit cramped. The lack of phones in the room was concerning, especially for emergencies.
